Chairman, Dixon Dedman:
Mr. Dedman is a 1999 graduate from Harrodsburg High School
and a 2003 graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South
Carolina. In college he had a book of poetry published
called Lard and Bacon Greese. He received a degree in
Sociology with an emphasis in English. He is the Director of
Food and Beverages for Beaumont Inn and The Old Owl Tavern.
Mr. Dedman is the fifth generation of the Dedman family to
be involved in the family business. He is a member of the
Board of Directors with the Wilderness Trace YMCA and has
served on the Harrodsburg First Board of Directors for two
years.
Vice
Chairman, David Shewmaker: Mr. Shewmaker's family has
been in Mercer County since 1789. He was a Main Street
business person from 1973 through 1992, and is dedicated and
excited about the opportunities for revitalizing Main
Street. Shewmaker resides in the county with his wife and
three daughters.
Treasurer, Jim Tanner: Dr. Tanner is a consultant to the
food and dietary supplement industry and is also the
Executive Vice President of Science for Food Research, Inc.
a consulting firm in California. After spending 30 years
with the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, D.C.,
Tanner retired with his wife Bonnie to a historic home in
Harrodsburg. Tanner holds degrees from the Eastern Kentucky
University and taught at Carnegie-Mellon University. He has
written and published numerous papers for peer reviewed
journals. When not consulting, Tanner collects, plays, and
restores banjos and once played in a bluegrass band in
Washington. Tanner currently operates an antiques booth at a
local antique show in Harrodsburg.
Treasurer, Randy Couch: Mr. Couch is an independent
State Farm insurance agent with his agency located in
downtown Harrodsburg. He has served on the Harrodsburg First
board of directors for three years.
Secretary,
Amy Sparrow Potts
is the Field Representative for the Kentucky Crossroads
Rural Heritage Development Initiative (RHDI). Previously,
Amy worked as Executive Director of the Harrodsburg First
Main Street Program and completed studies at Berea College
and Appalachian State University with an academic background
in cultural studies.
The RHDI is
demonstration program of the National Trust for Historic
Preservation, in collaboration with statewide partner,
Preservation Kentucky to help develop and implement
preservation-based economic development strategies in rural
areas.
Amy is
married to Craig Potts and has one son, Sam. In their free
time, they work to restore historic properties and are
passionate about Main Street revitalization.
Pamela
Drakeford: Mrs. Drakeford is the Human Resources
Projects Administrator for Wausau Paper where she has been
employed since 2001. She resides in Harrodsburg with her
husband Jim and proud to call Harrodsburg her lifetime
residence. Mrs. Drakeford has one child, Jimmy Drakeford who
along with his wife Kristy, has two children – Kaelin and
Anna Kate. She is a 3 year mentor with Big Brothers/Big
Sisters, Vice President of the United Way of Mercer County,
Vice-Chair of the Parish Council at St. Andrew Church, Bible
School Instructor, Youth Leader and RCIA Sponsor Chair. In
her spare time she likes to play in a sand volleyball
league, hike, and spend time with her family, friends and
pets.
Chad Horn:
Mr. Horn is the owner of The HEATS Agency, (Horn Electrical
And Tool Sales), with offices in Harrodsburg, Lexington, and
Louisville. He is a published author with poems in over
fifty magazines. Two books of his poetry are currently in
print and he is the editor/ owner of
www.diamondpointpoetry.com. He resides in downtown
Harrodsburg with wife, Sherry, and daughter, Talia. He also
serves on the Board of Directors for Bridges Community
Center, is an active speaker for Gideons International, and
is a GED Instructor at the Boyle County Detention Center.
Chad graduated as valedictorian of Fugazzi College with
degrees in Business Management and Accounting and holds
degrees from Central Kentucky State with certifications in
Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Electricity.
Greg
Souder: Mr. Souder is a 1982 graduate of Harrodsburg
High School and a 1986 graduate of Georgetown College. In
1998 he became a partner in a local insurance agency,
Whitenack & Souder Insurance, Inc. He is a member of the
Harrodsburg Rotary Club and Harrodsburg Baptist Church. He
serves as a Commissioner for the Upward Basketball League.
He is married to Debbie and has 3 children, Nicholas, Landon
and Emmy.
Executive Director: Elaine W. Hammonds is a
native of Macon, Georgia. She holds degrees from Berry
College, in Rome, Georgia and Eastern Kentucky
University. After having taught for several years, she
entered the field of non-profit fund raising and
administration. She has worked for Meals on Wheels of
Tampa and the Lexington region Alzheimer’s Association.
Elaine was the first Executive Director of the Great
American Brass Band Festival.
She
currently resides in Danville, Kentucky with her
husband, Joe Hammonds. She is a member of Danville
Kiwanis, and is on the board of directors for the
Association of Fundraising Professionals, Bluegrass
Chapter and NAMI Danville.
